, a Dallas-based investment advisor, has appointed James A Warner as managing director. This formalizes a working relationship that started in September last year when Warner started working with Lear on a consultative basis.

Warner most recently served as founder and chief executive of Black Ox Advisors, a financial and investment advisory firm. This venture built on his 15-year track record of work in the long/short equity markets, including tenures as a portfolio manager with firms such as The Citadel Group, Carlson Capital and Deimos Asset Management. He attained an MBA, with honors from the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania and a BA from the University of Virginia.

His career includes engagements on significant private equity transactions, complex Chapter 11 restructurings, activist shareholder stakes, distressed credit investments, and related corporate special situations.
